It was January, 1999 when a small group of believers made a commitment to plant a new church. In February, just a couple of weeks later, the group began meeting in homes. The work quickly attracted the support of friends and family from across Spokane County.

The people involved in starting the fledgling church were motivated by a longing to be part of a dynamic church family that was strongly focused on the sharing the good news of Jesus with the community of Spokane. The example of Paul the apostle figured strongly in their thinking when he said:

"...I have voluntarily become a servant to any and all in order to reach a
wide range of people; religious, non-religious, meticulous moralists,
loose-living immoralists, the defeated, the demoralized --whoever. I did all
this because of the Message. I didn't just want to talk about it; I wanted
to be in on it!" (1 Corinthians 9:19, 23; The Message, Eugene Peterson)

The church now meets with 100 worshippers every Sunday at the Corbin Senior Activity Center. The story of what God is doing continues...
