Celebration
Home

We believe strongly in the importance of every disciple of Jesus being active in using their gifts and abilities to glorify God.  Here at SCOC, our G.R.A.C.E. statement helps us to practice this belief.  Each member is encouraged to take part in at least one of the following service opportunities:

GROWTH/DISCIPLESHIP MINISTRY:  Primary purpose is to develop Maturity through teaching.

RELATIONSHIPS MINISTRY:  Primary purpose is to develop Membership through strengthening interaction.

ABILITIES/SERVICE MINISTRY:  Primary purpose is to develop Ministry through encouraging use of spiritual gifts in service and involvement.

CELEBRATION MINISTRY:  Primary purpose is to develop Magnification of God through in all our SCOC worship events.

Celebration

A grace-filled church encounters God in worship.  Each person is encouraged to praise and experience God through a unique expression of love and humility.  We choose an accapella style of worship, emphasizing praise and fellowship.

How Do We Implement It?

Bible study and preaching, communication, prayer, testimonials, call to salvation. Newer enthusiastic praise songs, drama presentations, technology, special readings. Avoid “church” words, responsive involvement of audience during teaching. Relaxed, friendly, encouraging atmosphere, fun and yet humbled in God’s presence. Organized, planned, no church business, only celebration and sharing!

Hospitality: welcoming of guests.

Looking To the Future

We envision a large Sunday morning celebration, where those working and sharing in fellowship in different communities will come together to be uplifted and to praise the glory of our God.  We will share in the remembrance of Jesus’ sacrifice, sing praise & pray together.  At some point, the community fellowships may form their own centers in their communities.  We see a steady growth as people are drawn to the Lord and anticipate a membership of 300-400 over the next 5 years.

What Do We Believe?

Community of Faith...the Church, is the fellowship of those who believe.  We believe in a single, unified, universal church that consists of all who acknowledge Jesus as God, that He was raised from the dead, who depend on Him for every need, and who serve Him sacrificially (Eph. 4:4-6).  We see all believers as brothers and sisters, even though we may have different cultural and stylistic preferences (Rom. 14).  We celebrate what we have in common with others Christian communities in this area, and rejoice that we have the opportunity to reach out in our own unique way.  The key to the community of faith is love for God, love for humanity and a commitment to serve God fully.  As we love, we show the truth of God to the world (Jn. 13:35).
